Central Russia Forecast: Mild June Expected After May Heatwave, Forecaster Says

June 2025 is shaping up to be an ideal month for leisure and seasonal vacations in Central Russia, according to a leading meteorologist. Evgeny Tishkovets, a senior specialist at the Fobos weather center, announced this forecast Friday via his Telegram channel.

Tishkovets stated that the start of summer in Russia's central regions will be characterized by comfortable and moderate temperatures. June is not expected to be hot, with temperatures predicted to be 1-2°C above the climatic norm, accompanied by a slight precipitation deficit (the norm is 77 mm). Specifically, Moscow is forecast to see nighttime temperatures ranging from +10…+15°C and daytime highs of +20…+25°C.

These figures, Tishkovets noted, fall within what he termed the "climate comfort zone," typically associated with air temperatures between +21…+24°C. He added that these values can vary based on humidity levels and wind speed.

"The zone of thermally favorable conditions for humans in the European part of our country will extend from the southern coast of the White Sea to the western foothills of the Caucasus Mountains and the southern tip of the Ural Mountains in the southeast," Tishkovets elaborated. He indicated that these conditions make the upcoming month optimal for vacations and outdoor recreation.

This favorable June forecast follows an anomalous heatwave that affected several central Russian regions in late May 2025, including Moscow and its surrounding oblast. On Thursday, May 29, the temperature in the capital reached +29.3°C. In the Moscow Oblast, temperatures surpassed the 30-degree mark for the first time this season.

The Russian Hydrometeorological Center explained that a blocking ridge positioned directly over the center of European Russia prevented the usual west-to-east transfer of air masses, a characteristic atmospheric pattern.
